Attorney Michael Dowley, along with church trustees Estelle Jackson and William Freeman, watch Rev. Moses Harvill sign purchase and sale contracts that finalize the property exchange. The Cross Street church will continue to worship in the current church for one year, until its new facility is completed. The new church’s building will be about five times the size of its current building and offer its parishioners more parking, banquet facilities, classrooms and a space for youth ministries. Once the church is in its new building, Wesleyan will convert the Cross Street building into a learning center and a place to store much of its extensive archaeological collection.
